Serenity is the absence of motive........... the absence of the urge for more…

.. whatever that more is about (even the urge for lessening of whatever........ is the urge for more....

....just in the reverse direction).

If serenity is the absence of motive, then that must include the very motive to achieve serenity.

So, is this an advocacy of ceasing all activity and gaze at that stubborn lint in the navel?

That might well occur, but then  the presence of the lint may be the disturbance.

The absence of the urge for more, does not in any way affect, the unfolding of the play of life as it does in and as the moment …….. moment to moment to moment.

So, if plans are to be made, they get made, if they are to be executed they get executed...

…what needs to be done is addressed to the best of one's ability…

....
but now…..the possible consequences of the actions in and as the moment…

………whether in the field of mentation or domain of physicality …

… no longer hold.......…no longer bind......... no longer define.

For the urge for more is never in and of the moment.

It is always of relevance to a conceived future.

Even if you are banging your desk and saying I WANT MORE NOW…

.....what you really saying is that right now you have a measure of less .....

and you want that to change in an instance.

That instance is the sense of your future.

And there is none.

For when the future comes...... it will always present itself, as the present moment.

You can never meet the past, for right now …….it is a mere mnemonic cell, aka memory.

You can never meet the future.

A nd….you can never be present in the present either.

Apperception of this……is the total absence of any sense of disturbance……

…..such that even the term “serenity” ceases to have a meaning.
